Wednesday Weird 7 :: The Apprentice

Claimh Solais: Wednesday Weird #7: The Apprentice
We’ve already done the Wizard, so now it seems like a good idea to look at the classic partner to the Wizard: The Apprentice.

Aren’t apprentices automatically weird? I mean it’s all there: youth, inexperience, desire, dreams, low Attribute scores.
Youth is wasted on the young.

The young fellow arrives on the docks. Sent to make his Journeyman Quest. Interested in the magics of Amber, he is. The locals are used to travelers, and he seems an all right sort. So they regale him with stories of Fiona’s mystery and power.
Next day, same young fellow arrives on the docks. Sent to make his Journeyman Quest. Interested in the fabled blademasters of Amber. The locals are used to travelers, and he seems an all right sort. So a different set of locals regale him with stories of Benedict’s prowess.
Next day. Young fellow. Docks. His Quest.
The best seafarers of Amber.
Next. Fellow. Docks. Quest.
The most passionate poet in Amber.
PCs get wind of this, perhaps not too far into the process. Yep. This looks like an invasion, but of what? Each is a different person, but the same person. What’s going on?
And how to stop it before Amber is full of Apprentices?
