‘reliable ownership’ and PC competancy

Just one of the things I appreciate about Amber DRPG is competancy being put on the table right next to trust.
An example of this from my GMing of Amber is this: PC competancy is so reliable that I will give the PC data about failures that may show several explanations of why their expertise did not produce results. Even if this exposes GM mysteries.
In case that’s not clear enough, what I’m saying is that you can GM Amber where the PCs are always getting more info that makes them feel ownership, whether they win or lose a particular contest.
And again, the above is not stated in the rules. The rules omit several important points and also muddy the trust issue.
