indy 4: still kicking (and dodging)

Harrison Ford still likes the idea:

Harrison Ford, speaking to the press at the Rome Film Festival last week, said that he feels “fit to continue” to play Indiana Jones, despite growing older, the Associated Press reported. Ford, 64, said that he was delighted to team up again with director Steven Spielberg and producer George Lucas for the film.
“We did three films that stay within the same block of time,” Ford told reporters. “We need to move on for artistic reasons and obvious physical reasons. I feel fit to continue and bring the same physical action.”
Indiana Jones IV has been in development for more than a decade. Lucas has said he and Spielberg are working on a script, though no details have been disclosed.

  1. “What astonishes me,” Harrison Ford says, “is that people can’t imagine Indiana Jones aging at all. Why expect any character to be frozen in time? The appeal of Indiana Jones isn’t his youth but his imagination, his resourcefulness … His physicality is a big part of it, especially in the way he gets out of tight situations. But it’s not all hitting people and falling from high places. My ambition in action is to have the audience look straight in the face of a character and not at the back of a capable stuntman’s head. I hope to continue to do that, no matter how old I get.”
Go man, go. Ford wasn’t exactly YOUNG in the first films.
It’s too bad we lost Phoenix, he’d be a great addition. Sigh.
Looking forward to the movie, anyway. Even if it’s a total disaster (can you say ‘Lucas’? I thought you could) I’m there.
